MALIKI ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY – A proud achievement has once again been recorded by the students of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. The Musabaqoh Syarhil Qur’an (MSQ) team, consisting of Zurrotul Mahira, Muhammad Khoiruzzimam, and Naila Ni’matul Husna, successfully won 1st place in the MSQ competition held on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Universitas Negeri Malang.
The team, which comes from the Khitobah Division and the Qiroah Division of JDFI UIN Malang, captivated the judges with their performance full of appreciation, teamwork, and a strong and touching delivery of the messages of the Syarhil Qur’an. This competition served as a platform for them to hone their skills while proving that cooperation and confidence can overcome doubt.
Their greatest motivation for participating in this competition was to develop their abilities in the field of Musabaqoh Syarhil Qur’an and to deliver their best performance. This spirit grew even stronger thanks to the support among team members who always encouraged each other throughout the preparation process until the day of the competition.
Preparation was carried out to the fullest with intensive practice from morning, noon, afternoon, to night. They prepared their memorization, synchronized movements, variations in delivery, and costume details to perform optimally on stage.
In the process, the team also received guidance from mentors and coaches who played a significant role in shaping the quality of their performance. The mentors included Naufal Wahib as the Co Division of Khitobah JDFI UIN Malang, Lintang Firdausi Nuzula, Mirza Naashiratul Ummah, Zavva Zumuruddah El Falah as the Deputy Division of Khitobah JDFI UIN Malang, and Nur Fajriyatush Shobahah. Through intensive guidance, the coaches helped strengthen their speaking fluency, deepen their understanding of the syarhil Qur’an material, and build harmony within the team.
However, their journey to victory was not easy. A major obstacle arose three days before the competition when the qori’ in the team suddenly could not continue preparations. This situation forced them to quickly find a replacement in a very limited time. On Thursday night, they finally found a new qori’ who had never participated in the MSQ competition before.
Despite the pressure, they chose to remain confident and continue to fight together. With only two days left for preparation, all team members practiced as much as possible until they were finally able to perform confidently in front of the other participants.
“When the participant numbers were distributed, we surrendered and believed that effort does not betray results,” they expressed.
This victory became a very memorable moment as it not only brought home the title of Champion 1 but also served as proof of their courage to overcome self-doubt.
“Alhamdulillah, there is a sense of pride within us for choosing to fight against doubt. It feels like a dream to achieve this accomplishment,” they said with emotion.
For them, this success was born from the differences that could be united in teamwork and harmony. Differences did not become a barrier to unity, but rather a strength that made them more solid and supportive of one another.
